All Aboard! Durango and Silverton Railroad Guide
Silverton Is For Adventure Lovers!
We want you to come and play in Silverton, Colorado, the heart of the high country! Choose between one of two wonderful ways to journey to Silverton. Board the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad or drive the legendary "Million Dollar Highway." With a name like that, you can expect that there will be no shortage of beautiful scenery along this famous route.

Silverton is home to 700 miles of scenic Jeep trails ranging from beginner to advanced. If you are looking for a journey filled with spectacular scenery, historic landmarks and a touch of the adventurous sprit, the Alpine Loop will satisfy. This 65-mile tour will take you to an elevation of 12,000 feet twice and will reveal the harsh and unsympathetic climate early miners endured.
If you are in need of even more of an adrenaline rush, Imogene and Ophir are your passes to adventure and excitement. Imogene Pass is the second highest roadway in Colorado, with the summit reaching 13,114 feet above sea level. Ophir Pass has a peak of 11,798 feet. These beautiful passes offer exceptional views into area history, and if your timing is right, some of the most breathtaking landscapes of wildflowers in southwest Colorado.
