Zipline Introduces 5-Star Train Service

Dhe legendary Tall Timber Resort, a remote, five-star paradise with no road access has operated in the Durango Mountains for over 30 years. A haven for families and celebrities and renowned for its extraordinary level of guest service, Tall Timber gave birth to a new and unique adventure on its 180 remote acres-ziplining-the five-star way.

Soaring® Tree Top Adventures boasts the largest, highest and safest zipline canopy tour course available, and is the first of its kind and scale in the US. In 2004, Soaring changed from operating exclusively to Tall Timber guests to opening its doors to guests arriving for the day by train.

The all-day adventure allows guests ages 5-91 to traverse across cables that make them feel like they are gliding through the air like birds from tree to tree, on a network of lacy stainless steel platforms nestled high in the Ponderosa canopy. Guests soar through Aspen forests and mountain glens, over the crisp, frothy waters of the Animas River, traversing over a mile and a quarter of cable on spans through spectacular scenery.

The course offers 24 spans ranging from 56 to 1400 feet and is designed for excitement that is safe and accessible to all ages, with the help of friendly Sky Rangers (guides). Soaring's patented system is completely non-invasive to the old-growth Ponderosa pines it uses to hold the lacey stainless steel platforms to the trees.

New in 2009, Soaring extends the legendary service of Tall Timber to its guests on their train journey. Soaring will include first-class train cars to offer a luxury travel experience to their guests. A Soaring representative will greet guests at the Tall Timber Legend train car, where "ticketless travel" and open car seating awaits.
