90th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, 90th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, July 8, Spencer Penrose of Colorado Springs realized early the tourist potential of Pikes Peak near Colorado Springs. In 1915 Penrose finished converting the narrow carriage road to the summit of the 14,110-foot mountain into the Pikes Peak Highway. In order to publicize his adopted hometown and his new road, he devised a simple plan - run an automobile race to the summit of Pikes Peak on the new highway. The first Pikes Peak Auto Hill Climb was held August 10- 12, 1916.

Breckenridge - Ullr Fest, January 8-14, 2012, Ullr Fest is an annual wacky winter festival like no other, and it is taking place January 8 - 14, 2012. During Ullr Fest in Breckenridge, don't be surprised to see horned Viking hats adorning the heads of skiers and snowboarders, Ullympic competitors flinging frying pans for prizes, more than 12,000 Ullr enthusiasts filling the streets for the Ullr Parade and crazy float participants skiing off jumps on Main Street or gliding along town in a hot tub.
Durango - Winterfest, Jan. 14-16, 2012, Durango Mountain Resort, Winterfest is a fun event that gives snow enthusiasts of all ages opportunities to experience new winter activities, such as ice climbing, dog sledding, snowshoeing, Nordic skiing and more. Events are hosted at Durango Mountain Resort and sponsored by Backcountry Experience.

Steamboat- 32nd Cardboard Classic, April 14, 2012 from 10am to 12:30pm - Steamboat Ski Area, The Cardboard Classic, Steamboat's traditional rite of spring celebrating over three decades of fun, features homemade crafts constructed only from cardboard, glue, string, water based paint, duct tape and masking tape racing down the face of Headwall to a hysterical finish. The uniqueness and creativity of the race make it an event looked forward to every year.
