FAQ's regarding lodging at Colorado resorts

1. What is a property manager?

You'll see many property managers in our listings. A property manager takes care of a property from a physical and a guest-relations standpoint. While acting as liaison between the owner of the property and guests, a property manager may also be in charge of maintaining and upgrading the facility. In many cases, the property manager has the responsibility for attracting guests to the property as well and that's why they're advertising on this site.

2. What does rack rate mean?

Most lodging properties advertise a rack rate however, most guests never pay it. It is the highest rate charged and is usually only applicable during the busiest of times.

3. When can I expect to pay the most for lodging in Colorado?

Holidays especially Christmas. It's all based on supply and demand.

4. When can I expect to pay the least for lodging in Colorado?

Shoulder seasons are when Colorado lodging properties are more eager to find guests and the rates can drop dramatically. Shoulder seasons in Colorado would be April to mid-June and September to mid December. Depending on what resort you're visiting, the months of January and February (except Presidents weekend) are also good times to find great lodging deals. For more deals see our early, mid and late seasons deals page, our click and print coupons page and our Trip'sOn certificates page.

5. What's the difference between ski-in/ski out and ski-in/shuttle out?

At some ski-in/ski-out locations you can step out of your lodge, put on your skis and literally cruise to your first lift of the day. Others may require a short walk of less than 300 feet. Ski-in/shuttle-out refers to a lodge that is close enough to a ski run to ski to the lodge, but far enough from your fist lift where you'd probably find it more convenient to take a shuttle.

6. What other resources can be helpful in your quest to find the perfect place to stay?

You're more than welcome to submit a question to us for our suggestions based on your needs. Things we'd need to know:

  • How many are in your group?
  • What dates or season you're looking at visiting?
  • What amenities do you require (full kitchen, washer/dryer, parking, local shuttle service, airport shuttle service, in house shuttle service, handicap facilities, swimming pool, hot tubs, sauna, on-site lounge and restaurant, in house concierge service, spas and more)?
  • Does price matter?

Another highly recommended source to contact about a lodge that can accommodate your needs would be a local chamber or commerce.
