Galleries. Public artwork. Theater. Exhibits. Classes. Paint your own pottery. Music. Kids' art programs. Photography. Creative bicycle racks painted by local kids. Murals. Studio tours. ArtWalk. Sculpture. Just a taste of the many arts that bring the downtown area and beyond to life during the day and evenings. Longmont appreciates and celebrates nearly all forms of the arts, and the local calendars, coffee shops and galleries offer things for everyone.

Musical production or theater your interest this weekend? Enjoy dinner at a downtown restaurant and then choose from productions by the Longmont Theatre Company or Jesters Dinner Theatre or a handful of productions offered by one of the talented middle or high school groups.
Interested in seeing what local artists are up to? A stroll down Main Street (meandering east or west periodically) exhibits the talents and creativity of the many artists in Longmont and beyond, including Carlos
Healing Arts Gallery, Old Firehouse Art Center, the Muse Gallery, the Great FrameUp, and the Rapid Rabits, as well as the many coffee shops that offer frequently changing exhibits of new and interesting and affordable works of art.
The Longmont Museum, located on the south side of town (400 Quail Road) offers three permanent exhibits featuring the history of the Front Range and Longmont and two additional galleries with rotating exhibits for those with diverse interests. The museum offers a summer concert series, various exhibits-related programs as well as the free "Discover Days" for children ages two to five.
The Longmont Symphony Orchestra may be best known to those in Longmont for its free concert on July 4th, but this orchestra delivers selections for those with diverse musical interests and to audiences of all ages and musical awareness. Visit www.longmontsymphony.orgfor a complete listing.
Also downtown, arts enthusiasts can paint their own dishes, piggy banks, gifts and more at Crackpots, at 5th and Main. Across the street, and scattered throughout the downtown area (can you find them all?) are some of the 50+ public artworks that this city boasts. Grab a coffee, some chess pieces and head to St. Stephen's to see Art on the Move - but don't wait to long, as these public works are switched out every 11 months. Pick up an Art in Public Places walking map at any city facility for a two-mile morning jaunt!
Frames, frames, frames, and so much more! The Great Frame Up exhibits local artists' work while experienced staff can help select the best frame for just about anything you may
want to hang. Artists' supplies, creativity, customer service and more await you.
The Old Firehouse Art Center is a nonprofit organization that offers two galleries, programs and more in the historic old firehouse on the corner of 4th Ave. & Coffman Street. Stop by the gallery for a glimpse of frequent and rotating exhibits.
The Muse Gallery, operated by the Longmont Council for the Arts, is where local artists hang. The gallery features three spaces: the WESTend, which provides special exhibition space for local, regional and national artists; the Main Gallery, dedicated to resident artists; and the community space to catch glimpses of budding young artists. Don't miss the exhibit openings, chat up the knowledgeable staff and grab some postcard/fliers for the most complete arts info in Longmont with the Art Enthusiast Magazine.
ArtWalk is when this city truly celebrates all forms of art at once. On the third Friday of May, July and September art forms of all types are displayed, celebrated, performed, created and appreciated by the thousands who participate.
