Independence Day Celebration » July 4
Small-town fun combines with mountain adventure each July 4 weekend in Breckenridge, Colo. On Independence Day, the party kicks off with a 10K trail run, followed by the Firecracker 50 mountain bike race leads and the Main Street parade. Arts festivals, family activities, live music, a performance by the National Repertory Orchestra and an extraordinary fireworks display close out the weekend.

The USA Pro Cycling Challenge returns to Colorado, with a Friday, Aug. 22 finish in Breckenridge. Also that month, Breck Bike Week (exact dates TBD) unites all styles of cyclists for bike-themed bliss: mountain and road bike demos, guided group rides, clinics and trail-building intros are just a taste. And the Breck Epic (Aug. 10-15) brings world-class endurance mountain bikers for a six-day stage race through Breckenridge's backcountry.

20th Annual Breckenridge Oktoberfest

Going strong for twenty years, Breck's Oktoberfest brings a weekend of parties, German cuisine and plenty of Paulaner beer. It's one of the largest Oktoberfests in the Rocky Mountain region and offers collectible steins imported from Germany. The weekend is a mix of traditional (with Munich's Paulaner, one of the six breweries who provide beer for the German festival) and local flavor (with Breckenridge Brewery providing local brews).

Breckenridge Festival of Film

Going strong for more than 30 years, the Breckenridge Festival of Film highlights the art and craft of filmmaking. In addition to dramas and comedies, the fest last year introduced a new Adventure Reel, featuring outdoor-inspired films with a variety of run times.

Breckenridge Craft Spirits Festival
» October 24-26
Craft distillers each year gather in Breckenridge for the Craft Spirits Festival, which features a grand tasting, restaurant specials, a downtown pub crawl and historic saloon tours. Born of Colorado's - and the nation's - rapidly-growing artisan spirits industry, the Breckenridge fest is the first of its kind in Colorado and last year added a new judging format to highlight tip distillers and products.
