LEADVILLE IS A NATIONAL HISTORIC Landmark District encompassing over 70 square blocks. Most of the buildings were built between 1880 and 1905 and complete the charm with their architecture. Leadville was incorporated in 1878 and is the highest incorporated city in the continental United States at 10,152 feet above sea level. It is also the county seat of scenic Lake County.

The history of Leadville is filled with dramatic stories of real people who made, and lost, fortunes in this frontier mountain town spiced with Victorian flavor. People known to all of us -- Carnegie, Guggenheim, Susan B. Anthony, the "Unsinkable" Molly Brown, Doc Holliday, Oscar Wilde, Horace and Baby Doe Tabor -- are just a few of the many who fill Leadville's past.

Twin Lakes Village is located in the southern part of Lake County about 15 miles from Leadville. Like Leadville, Twin Lakes is a National Historic Site. Today, this small town is a delight for visitors, hikers, climbers, photographers, and fishermen alike.
