Cozy and comfortable vacation cabin rentals are at Green Mountain Reservoir, in the north section of Summit County. The surrounding open landscape has big and beautiful views of 2 mountain ranges, huge meadows, and a variety of birds with many wildlife sightings. We are only 30-40 minutes from the hustle and bustle of several well-known 4-season ski resorts; but, "a million miles away," nestled in the heart of mountain ranch land, adjacent to the historic Knorr Ranch.
What's Happening in Summit County
Welcome To Heeney

The little community of Heeney is 8,000 feet above sea level and nestled between two spectacular mountain ranges, the Gore and Williams Peak. This area includes the Blue River Valley and the Green Mountain Reservoir and is one of Colorado's best kept secrets. Only 30 to 40 minutes from Keystone, Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland and Copper Mountain ski resorts, the entire area offers a unique change of scenery and pace from the big resorts down the road.

Heeney was established in the late 1930s as an offshoot of the Dam construction. There is not a lot of commercial development around the Green Mountain Reservoir but it has a lot to offer as far as hiking, fishing, hunting, boating, jet skiing,
water skiing, off-roading, camping and awesome views.
There is a small marina with boat rentals in the town of Heeney and a small store with food items and fishing supplies. The Cataract Lake trail is especially popular for hiking in the Eagle's Nest Wilderness area.

The area remains today much the same as it was over 50 years ago, with a beautiful hay meadow and grazing cattle across the county road. It's not uncommon to see, in the early morning and late afternoon hours, the elk grazing in the meadow.
