About Pikes Peak

Pikes Peak is the highest summit on the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The highest and most prominent point is located in Pike National Forest at 14,115 feet above sea level. This National Park is located just west of downtown Colorado Springs, and the town of Manitou Springs lies at its base. 

American Zebulon Pike explored the area for gold in the early 1800s and named the mountain “Highest Peak.” It later became known as “Pike’s Peak.”
