    Getting to and around Basalt has never been easier.

    The closest airport to Basalt is just down the road! Fly into Aspen/Pitkin Airport which serves two airlines. American Airlines has nonstop flights from Chicago, Los Angeles, and Dallas/ Ft.     If you want to see more of the beautiful state of Colorado during your journey, fly into Denver International Airport and rent a car. Travel west on Interstate 70 to exit 116 and take US- 82 South to Basalt. If it’s summer time, take the drive through Leadville and enter the Roaring fork Valley from the southern entrance over Independence pass.

    Did you bring or rent a bike? If so, plan a ride (or a walk or run) on the Rio Grande Trail, 42 miles of paved path. It was originally a railroad bed for The Rio Grand Railroad, but has re-purposed as a paved recreation path that goes from Glenwood Springs to Aspen. Look for the new WeCycle stations in Willits, El Jebel and historic Downtown.

    On Foot
    Downtown Basalt is easily walkable on foot. Take the historic tour around town, walk along the river, or hike one of our many trails that connect the downtown, residential, and commercial districts.
