    Dining in Basalt isn’t just a treat, it’s payback! And the largest single night to nibble with a purpose is the TASTE OF BASALT. Basalt Education Foundation’s flagship annual gala, held annually in November at the Roaring Fork Club, is where sampling local culinary treats from Basalt’s finest restaurants is the mid-valley’s social event of the school year, also offering guests the chance to sample wine and beer from around the world; enjoy upbeat dancing and bid on dozens of fabulous top-notch silent-auction items.

    That’s just one night where guests can get a taste of Basalt’s finest dining under one roof, but you can enjoy these fine dining establishments any other day of the year, right here in our valley!

    Explore dining in Basalt—but know when you pull your chair up to the table at one of these dining establishments, you’re supporting a local restaurant that gives back!

    Downvalley Tavern
    Better known by the locals as DVT, this is the place to kick back with friends and enjoy some good old neighborhood Italian comfort food with some special twists to make you feel like you are in Boston’s North End. At DVT you will find Italian food specials, fresh and bold salads, cured meats including in-house cured pork, creative pasta dishes, assorted bruschetta along with numerous entrees and fish dishes. Craft beers abound and of course some great wines to pair with your meal. And while you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, make sure to try the pizza either in house or to go…yum!


    Heather's Savory Pies & Tapas Bar
    How can a place referred to as the “hottest music venue in the mid valley” also serve such amazing food? With a beautiful patio to dine and listen to music in the warmer months and a restaurant that puts out amazing Savory Pies including chicken or lamb pot pie as well as an egg plant version, Heather’s will keep you coming back every time. You can also order these pies to go. Not in the mood for these special pies? Don’t worry there are many soups, salads, lunch and dinner specials made fresh daily.


    K’Gen Asian Cuisine
    Located in the heart of Willits Town Center you can find authentic Asian cuisine serving Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese dishes along with a variety of noodle dishes and a sushi bar.

    New York Pizza
    Many head to Aspen to enjoy New York Pizza in the “Aspen Mall”, no need to travel as New York Pizza is also located in the El Jebel City Market Plaza, offering pizza by the slice or whole pies to order. Salads, Subs & Italian specialties are available for dining in, take away & free delivery.
     

    Bowlounge
    While Bowlounge offers a state-of-the-art bowling experience, their restaurant and lounge offer amazing baked and fried chicken, burgers, tacos, nachos, sandwiches, mac and cheese, salads and more all served up in hearty portions with plenty of libations to accompany your meal and night out on the bowling lanes.


    Smoke Modern BBQ
    Founder & Chef Jame Theriot created Smoke because he believes that barbeque should be rooted in tradition – but not captive to it. That’s why they smoke their meats low and slow over hickory and fruitwood, but also embrace new flavors, and complementary cuisines. Barbeque has a long history, and they’re thrilled to add a whole new chapter to it.


    Tempranillo
    Located in historic downtown Basalt Tempranillo stands out with its unique setting and appealing yellow architecture. Once inside you become immersed in the feel that you have stepped back into old world Spain and Italy with a modern appeal. You will discover an extensive tapas menu, sangria and award winning wine list. With a classic bar and the ever popular community table, you will find meeting up with old friends is just as common as making new ones. Tempranillo also offers formal dining in addition to comfortable patio dining – there is something for everyone.


    Riverside Grill
    After spending a day out on the river or hiking, there is no better place to unwind then on the casual deck at Riverside Grill overlooking the Fryingpan River. Featuring traditional American fair and drinks in a unique outdoor setting, Riverside’s menu includes fish tacos, fries, calamari and burgers. Also a must-try are the spicy chicken wings with homemade ranch dressing or the Chili Relleno with goat cheese, peppers and corn salsa.
     

    Basalt Education Foundation delivers innovative, creative programming and experiences for every student, primarily with funds raised at the Taste of Basalt – over $100,000 annually. In its 22nd year, the gala will be held at the Roaring Fork Club on Saturday, November 4, 2017.

    Since the Taste of Basalt's inception in 1996, the BEF has given more than $800,000 to the three Basalt public schools, and scholarships in the amount of $17,500 in 2017 to Basalt High School students in amounts from $500 - $3,000 per student.
