Sometimes, there is nothing better than a must-needed self care. To you, that might mean a weekend at a spa, a nice manicure, a haircut, or just a relaxing weekend full of activities in your favorite Colorado mountain town. Having a spa weekend in a warm and cozy mountain spot while it is cold and snowing outside is a great form of self care! Luckily, there are plenty of self care activities across the state for you to enjoy.
Being located in the Rocky Mountains, Colorado is home to an impressive number of hot springs that are excellent when you are looking for some self care and relaxation. Sitting in the hot water full of beneficial minerals while the temperature outside is freezing is a great way to relax and treat your body well.
Hot springs are all-natural bodies of water that are warmed from below the earth’s surface. Usually hot springs hover around 100 degrees fahrenheit. When you go on a cold winter day, there is a thick layer of steam coming off the surface of the water. Not only do hot springs feel like a great relief from a cold winter day, but they are also rumored to have enormous health benefits. They are full of minerals that can help relieve joint pain, clear up and moisturize your skin, and relax sore or tense muscles. Glenwood Springs is located about 3 hours west of Denver, fairly close to Aspen. Iron Mountain Hot Springs offers a beautiful mountain getaway with some much needed natural spa elements. Iron Mountain Hot Springs is located right next to the stunning Colorado River. No matter where you are at the Hot Springs, you have a beautiful and scenic view of the Rocky Mountains. At Iron Mountain, there are 16 geothermal pools where you can really enjoy all that hot springs have to offer. The pools range in shape, size and temperature. There is also a freshwater pool that the whole family can enjoy.
To enjoy your trip to Iron Mountain Hot Springs, you need to make a 2.5 hour reservation, which allows the spa to control capacity which ensures you will enjoy your experience as much as possible. You will be in the geothermal pools with other guests which gives you a great opportunity to meet some new people. Aside from Iron Mountain, there are plenty of other things to do in Glenwood Springs. If you want a weekend away for relaxation, Glenwood Springs is a great place to find a hotel room or an airbnb. Spending a few days in the mountains and going to Iron Mountain Hot Springs will be a great reset!
Strawberry Park Hot Springs, Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Strawberry Park Hot Springs are located in Steamboat Springs, about three hours west of Denver. Steamboat is an amazing mountain town. It has a huge ski resort, a quaint town center full of shops, restaurants, and bars, and a rich western history. Strawberry Park Hot Springs is located up in the mountains, making it a tricky trek in the winter months. The hot springs are about a 30 minute drive out of town which is a significant drive, but it is so worth it.
Strawberry Park Hot Springs perfectly blends the natural mountain beauty with the mastery of the construction of the facility is a really beautiful sight. There are a few different pools at Strawberry Park, which range in temperatures. There are changing tents and picnic areas around the resort, so you can enjoy the park outside of the pools as well.
A great way to get the most out of Strawberry Park Hot Springs is to utilize their lodging options. They have some really cute options for staying the night at the park. You can either use the campsite and camp for the weekend, or rent the rustic cabins located at the park. Whatever you choose, you will be able to use the pools overnight, which is a very unique experience.
