Bamboo Fly Rod Building Class

Learn how to build your own bamboo fly rod. This course includes six days of master rodsmith instruction, all needed materials and tools in beautiful downtown Pagosa Springs, Colorado, on the San Juan River. A completed two-piece, one-tip bamboo fly rod of your choice of weight (3wt-6wt) and length, choice of agate stripping guide, reel seat spacer, and grip type and size. All participants will also receive an organic hemp rod sock, premium rod tube, and shop apron to take home with you upon completion of the class. PJ’s Fine Bamboo Rods provides all participants with all needed tools and equipment needed to complete the rod. A $500 deposit is due at the time of registration, the remaining balance of $2,095 is due two weeks before the start of the class. Both the deposit and remaining balance can be paid on the website or a recurring invoice can be arranged for payments. Students should be prepared for six full days of class in order to complete their rods in the allotted time. There will be a break for lunch each day and an estimated end time to the day. However, both the lunch hour and after the end of class time can be used for participants to catch up if not completed with the steps for the day. Please do not make alternative plans for any portion of the classroom time to allow enough time to finish the rod in six days.
The class will be hosted in downtown Pagosa Springs, Colorado, a workshop located at 262 Pagosa Street. There are numerous nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner options.
