Kid's Camps at Cottonwood Center for the Arts

July 13 - 30, 2020

427 E. Colorado Ave., Colorado Springs, CO

This summer, kids will explore the methods and materials of the Studio Artist. We’re taking it en plein air—outdoors—to render Colorado’s high plains and mountain splendor on paper and canvas. Letting natural surroundings guide daily projects, our instructors will introduce several fine art mediums.

Whether your child already has a passion for art or has never picked up a paintbrush, they'll come home with new skills to support a lifetime of creative expression. Each week will focus on a different art form. Campers attending all three weeks will learn something new every session! Our subjects will include animals, nature, landscape, skyscape, portrait, and abstraction, but campers will also be encouraged to follow their own inspirations as they arise.

If you are registering more than one child, please register by phone to receive a 10% discount: 719.520.1899. Recommended for ages 7-12.. Each week is limited to 9 campers.

Campers must bring a packed lunch each day (no peanut products please). Everyone should come wearing sunscreen and weather-appropriate clothing. Drop-off/pick-up will happen at Bear Creek Park—details available upon registration. In the event of a forecast of inclement weather, parents/guardians will be notified by 6:00 p.m. the night before, and camp will meet at Cottonwood instead. Please send your camper with a face mask. Once in the field and appropriately distanced, instructors will let campers know it’s okay to remove masks.
