Plein Air Festival and Auction

May 20, 2017

4th St., Loveland, CO

Don’t miss the Plein Art Festival and Auction Saturday, May 20 in Loveland, Colorado. This free family-friendly festival showcases 50 Colorado artists as they masterfully paint works of art open air and on location throughout Loveland, providing a unique opportunity to experience each piece as it is being created. Once complete the paintings will be auctioned off at the Rialto Theater in downtown Loveland. The Plein Art Festival and Auction is one of the most highly-attended events that is part of the 26th annual Governor’s Art Show and Sale - the largest juried art show to exclusively feature Colorado artists. Visitors may receive information on the day of the festival at Studio Vino, 426 North Lincoln Avenue in downtown Loveland.

Opening April 29, the 26th annual Governor’s Art Show and Sale will bring together 56 of the state’s most-talented artists, two Legacy Artists, George Lundeen and Mark Lundeen, and thousands of visitors for a month long-exhibit at the Loveland Museum/Gallery. The art show has established itself as one of the top two art shows in the state, and among the many reasons Loveland is at the heart of the arts in Colorado.

The show will include:

  • A preview gala for previous patrons and sponsors on April 28 featuring live performances and music (tickets are $75)
  • Work by award-winning artists, including award-winning Denver artist Kit Kevron Mahoney and sculptor Jane DeDecker

The Governor’s Art Show is presented by Loveland and Thompson Valley Rotary Clubs, directed by Pam Osborn and endorsed by the Governor of Colorado. All proceeds will benefit Rotary-sponsored charitable projects and causes, including scholarships for local art students. The Plein Air Festival is free, and exhibit admission to the Governor’s Art Show is $5, and free for museum members. Learn more at
