About Stagecoach Lake

Stagecoach State Park is a wonderful outdoor recreation destination in the lush Yampa Valley set amid fragrant sagebrush and great views of the Flat Top Mountains, and located 16 miles south of Steamboat Springs. This 3-mile-long reservoir provides recreation for all types. Boaters, jet and water skiers, sailors, and paddle sport enthusiasts will find good recreation, with wakeless and nonwakeless areas, rentals, and a full-service marina. Anglers will find good cold-water fishing in this lake, known for its fast-growing and hard-fighting rainbow, brown trout, and northern pike. Two hundred bird species await birdwatchers, including white-faced ibis, American white pelicans, mountain bluebirds, and dusky and sharp-tailed grouse. Mule deer, elk, cottontails, and many other mammals are common. Waterfowl and small-game hunting are allowed in some areas. Stagecoach has eight miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails. Ice fishing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing are popular in the winter. Four campgrounds with 92 sites are available. Four of these campsites have electricity and are maintained for winter camping. — Back to All State Parks.
