This season, we’re eyeing Colorado winter events with fun and funky twists. These holiday to-do’s span family fun runs and indie art fairs, Main Street cider strolls and decked-out waterfalls. Christmas Markets are usually the first festive events to kick off the holiday season, followed by everything else.

Colorado’s rafting and biking mecca transform into a winter wonderland with its annual old-time holiday celebration. Santa is ushered into town by an Equine Parade and heads out to the North Pole that evening after the popular Parade of Lights. Festivities begin with a chocolate walk and a viewing of the movie Polar Express, followed by a chili cook-off and visits with Santa.

Winter Lights at Seven Falls
Colorado Springs
This series of seven cascading waterfalls rests near The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. The walking park and year-round attraction hit a holiday high note with a multi-colored light display that kicks off mid-November and runs through February. More than 100,000 lights outline the path to the falls, with colored lights illuminating the surrounding cliffs. Make a night of it with dinner reservations at Restaurant 1858 and pack the good camera—a full lineup of festivities among the glowing falls makes for dreamy holiday photos.

Santa Stampede

Gather your favorite runners (or walkers) and burn some energy in this fun, flat and fast 5K or 10K event. The fresh-air tradition brings together families and athletes of all ages for a costumed jog along the banks of the scenic South Platte River. Participants receive a Santa hat, race logo shirt, finisher’s medals and gift certificate awards from Runner’s Roost. Afterward, treat yourself to cookies, muffins, oranges, bananas, and bagels at the post-race party.

What's Christmas without a classic performance of The Nutcracker? Be swept up in the magic of the season as Canyon Concert Ballet returns to the stage this December. Join in the magical experience when Clara is transported to a world where toys become larger than life. Her beloved Nutcracker defends her from the evil Mouse King, and stunning Snowflakes dance delicately.
Don't miss the Nutcracker VIP experience. Be transported to the Land of the Sweets where you will be able to meet cast members, snack on all of your favorite holiday treats, and see the stage being prepared for the show while hearing about the history of the Nutcracker. This pre-show experience is held in our VIP lounge starting 1.5 hours before your performance. You will be treated to special guest appearances and yummy treats before entering the theatre to see the sets and learn about the Nutcracker.
