River Rafting and Kayaking
Choose from a variety of local rafting outfitters who offer mild to wild trips through spectacular Glenwood Canyon on the Colorado River and the Roaring Fork River. For kayakers, paddle the standing wave at Glenwood Whitewater Park, the first to be built on the Colorado River.
Biking and Hiking
To experience the Roaring Fork Valley, bikers can ride along the 44-mile Rio Grande Trail from Glenwood Springs all the way to Aspen. The Glenwood Canyon Recreation Path is 16 paved miles and runs parallel to the Colorado River through scenic Glenwood Canyon. Hanging Lake and Grizzly Creek are popular hikes.
Farmers Markets
For fresh produce and hand-made crafts, shop the Glenwood Springs Downtown Market. This open-air market operates Tuesdays from June through September featuring cooking demonstrations by local chefs, a soup contest, wine tastings, live music and an Oktoberfest grand finale. For over 20 years, the Saturday Farmers Market has featured farm fresh goods from local western slope vendors mid-June to mid-November all natural meats, bread and baked goods, pasta, fresh vegetables, melons, flowers, and honey.
Historic Downtown
The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Glenwood Springs one of America's Dozen Distinctive Destinations. The historic downtown has a variety of unique shops and restaurants.

TRANSPORTATION
Glenwood Springs, located halfway between famous neighbors Vail and Aspen, is a scenic three-hour drive 160 miles west of Denver on I-70. It is a 1.5 hour drive 90 miles east of Grand Junction.
Amtrak's California Zephyr travels a spectacular rail route from Chicago to California stopping in Glenwood Springs.
Air service into Eagle/Vail, Aspen, Grand Junction, and Denver International.
