Leadville Loppet, February 25, The Loppet is in its 9th year in 2012, and it is an annual fundraiser for the Mineral Belt Trail. The race course meanders through rolling forested terrain in CMC's Timberline Trail network and leads racers to the Mineral Belt. From there they climb and descend abandoned rail grades left from Leadville's historic mining era, and return to CMC for the finish. ABasin - 10th Annual Marmot Grind, April 14, The Marmot Grind in an uphill, downhill adventure race designed to introduce new participants to backcountry skiing as well as challenge the veteran skier. Races are modeled after European randonee events with competitors beginning on foot and running to clip into their skis. Athletes skin uphill on a challenging course and race down to the finish. Race category vertical is approximately 4,500ft, recreational 2,000ft.
