Almost every restaurant and bar includes craft beer in their bar offerings these days. How do you choose the right craft beer? Kolsch or Lager? EPA or IPA? Learning about craft brew is a fascinating experience, full of new flavors, new places, and new friends. Make the pilgrimage to Durango where there’s no better place to learn the tastes of the brews while riding an historic steam train along the banks of the Animas River. Sample at least twelve craft beers from all six of Durango’s craft breweries.

On three weekends this summer, you’ll have the opportunity to taste local microbrews. Be sure to consider coming a day early to ride Durango Wine and Rails!

With a laid-back attitude and award-winning beers, the Durango Brew Train reflects the essence of Colorado where you’ll find over 10% of the nation’s craft breweries. But there’s more than brew sampling involved. The event also features live music and great food! In Durango, board the train pulled by an historic coal-fired, steam powered locomotive. Meet the brewers and begin sampling their brews as the train rolls through the Animas Valley. Upon arrival at the wilderness destination of Cascade Canyon, tastings will continue and you have the option to explore the forest and trails alongside the Animas River.

Whether you are a beer aficionado with a wealth of beer knowledge, a seasoned beer drinker, or someone who is new to the craft beer scene, you will leave knowing more than when you arrived!

Durango Wine & Rails Trains …a unique twist on pairing!

What do you get when you pair an historic steam train journeying deep into the Colorado wilderness with creations

from local wineries? An exceptional yet unpretentious tasting experience!

On three weekends this summer, you’ll have the opportunity to sample locally crafted wines.

Board one of the historic premium-class coaches built during the heyday of train travel. Attendants will be there to cater to your needs. Tastings will get underway as the train rolls through the Animas Valley.

Sommeliers will be on hand to describe how their wines are created, where their vineyards are located and answer any questions you may have. Relax in the comfort of your railway carriage as the train begins its climb to the Cascade Canyon destination. There, tastings will continue and you have the option to explore the forest and trails alongside the Animas River. There will be live music and hot and cold appetizers to enjoy during the time at this wilderness location.

Colorado’s strong wine industry offers settings and wine-tasting rooms like no other wine region in the world. Our tasting room happens to be in the Weminuche Wilderness area! Wine tastings are events designed to give enthusiasts the opportunity to sample a range of wines.

Tastings don’t come in beginner, intermediate and advanced levels – one size fits all!
