Solid Winter 2016 Snowpack Looking To Provide An Amazing Rafting Season

Hopefully you where able to take advantage of some of the many powder days we had this winter, but Its that time of year when you put your ski gear away and look forward to the upcoming whitewater season.  With a statewide snowpack of 109%, many drainages in Colorado will have above average runoffs this spring and summer. Liquid descent is looking forward to another epic rafting season with good water expected through late august and early September.

The rafting on Clear Creek is going to be awesome!

Clear Creek, one of Colorado’s most continuous rafting experiences will have another big water summer! The South Platte drainage currently has snowpack of 115% of average. We expect the water to begin rising rapidly over the next few weeks and maintain a consistently high flow through June and July. August is looking fantastic as well with possibility of trips extending into September.  Water will be highest in June but no mater what month you pick, the rafting will be a blast! has to offer.

Gore Canyon trips should begin around the first week in August

The Colorado river is running right now and with an above average snowpack we are planning to be able to run Gore Canyon the first week of August. In a typical year the water level is much to high during June and most of July to run in Gore, and we expect 2016 to be no different. Spend the early part of your summer sharpening your edges on high water Clear Creek trips, then in August take on the most intense Class V rafting that Colorado has to offer.

The Upper Colorado river will be running all summer long and into the fall.

This popular family stretch will have great flows throughout the season providing good times for all. the Upper C has perfect rafting opportunities for family with young children or those just looking to soak up the natural beauty and solitude of a remote river canyon. Those seeking more adventure can take a guided Stand Up Paddle board or Inflatable Kayak tour. The waves in the whitewater park at Pumphouse are perfect for surfing a SUP or Kayak!

As the weather begins to warm up and the rivers rise, we look forward to another brilliant Colorado summer and the opportunity to share the experience of river running with others. We hope to see lots of you out there on the water.

Have a great summer!
