Eleven Mile State Park is located west of Colorado Springs. The park is surrounded by a ring of mountains and features a 3,400-acre reservoir at 8,600 feet elevation and noted for large fish such as rainbow, brown, cutthroat trout, and northern pike. Visitors enjoy motorboating, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, or windsurfing — full-body wetsuit recommended. Strong winds, high waves, and fast-moving storms are common challenges. Swimming, water skiing, jet skis, and scuba diving are prohibited.

Eleven Mile State Park Camping

The park has 312 tent, trailer, and motor home campsites scattered around the reservoir at nine campgrounds. For the slightly more adventurous, 14 sites are walk-in/boat-in backcountry sites.

Wildlife watchers may spot pronghorn, elk, deer, bobcats, coyotes, and other mammals. Watch for various songbirds, raptors, waterfowl, and shorebirds. Bald eagles, American white pelicans, and peregrine falcons are also in the area. Hunting is permitted in certain areas of the park during the season. 4,000 acres of land surround the reservoir, and visitors can hike or bike nearly five miles of scenic trails in the Coyote Ridge/ Backcountry area. Motorized vehicles are only allowed on designated roads. Islands are closed to public use.  — Back to All State Parks.
