About Staunton Park

Enjoy a wonderful day at Staunton State Park with features like Lions Head, Elk Falls, and Chimney Rock, plus a blend of meadows, granite cliffs, mountain forests, and swift streams.  This park provides stunning scenery, recreation, and nature appreciation within a short drive of Denver.

Almost 30 miles of trails are open to hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. Some trails are hiking-only. Rock climbing is found throughout the park in designated areas.

Wildlife watchers may get lucky and see elk, deer, bobcats, coyotes, bears, and Abert’s squirrels. Birdwatchers can expect to see forest birds, raptors, and riparian species such as dippers and kingfishers. Plus, there is fishing in ponds and streams.

Discover the Staunton family cabin and how Francis Staunton willed this acreage to the state. This 3,800-acre park does provide access to walk-in, backcountry campsites. — Back to All State Parks.
